OUR STORY

Pike Robotics was spun out of UT Austin’s Texas Robotics Labs and originally funded by Phillips 66 to help with the real need they have for maintaining their product storage and refining facilities. Replacing the outdated and dangerous inspection method for Above-Ground Storage Tanks with a safe and efficient robotic alternative continues to be the focus of the team.

For over 20 years, our group of engineers and scientists have developed and deployed robots to perform Dull, Dirty, and Dangerous Tasks for nuclear plants, oil & gas facilities, and military units. We have grown from professor, student, and research assistant to a team of 10 full-time & part-time engineers and advisors over the past year.

Partnerships with established players in the energy industry have allowed our team access to a number of different facilities for real-world testing. We have had great success integrating both commercial-off-the-shelf and custom robots into existing inspection and maintenance operations. These experiences have further increased our knowledge of best practices and industry standards.
